Almost done

It's hard to believe another season of Nashville Star is almost done. While American Idol seems interminable this year, the Nashville version just flies by. They let everyone perform tonight before making the final cut. They showed everyone's trip to their hometowns. And no one disappointed.
Nicole Jamrose rebounded from last week's ballad fiasco with a spirited rendition of Dixie Chicks' "Sin Wagon". Again I like her voice. Oddly I think she might do better outside Nashville in the folk rock category. She's starting to remind me of KT Tunstall.
Casey Rivers continues to showcase his strong voice, performing the gospel song "How Great Thou Art". He's becoming a dark horse favorite to steal it from Chris Young.
Chris Young sang "Rock You Baby". I honestly think it's his bag to lose now. He has been consistent. I just wish I liked him more. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a youth thing. I was irritated with Erika Jo because she came off as a young and cocky. I liked Nashville Star because we usually saw older established people finally making it for a change.
Matt Mason performed Waylon Jennings' "Lonesome On'ry & Mean". Unfortunately it was the last performance for our Nashville Star outlaw. Surprisingly he was the one eliminated from the final. He shrugged it off, reminding everyone that people said no to Johnny Cash and their ilk and they're country icons now. Hopefully we'll be hearing from him again.
