Risk takers
Mar. 28th, 2006 11:43 pmAmerican Idol focused on the 21st century songs. We certainly had more variety than we've seen in previous years from gospel to rock to blues. Bucky and Kellie stuck to their country roots with middling success. Bucky doesn't convince me as a bad boy for Tim McGraw's "Real Good Man". Kellie Pickler got dinged for picking Sara Evans' "Suds in the Bucket". Ironically I seem to remember thinking that'd be a fun one for her to try. Whoops.
On the Nashville Star, though, the night seemed to be all about taking risks in music. Wynonna sat down with each contestant and we heard her advice and suggestions. I really do get the idea this is more than just a gig for her. True to form, everyone stepped up to the plate.
( You got to know when to hold them, know when to fold 'em... )
